Overview

#KVROneSynth #SoundDesign
The One-Synth Challenge (OSC) is a monthly event that invites music producers to craft entire tracks using only one synthesizer for all sounds, including percussion. This constraint fosters creativity and deep exploration of the chosen instrument's capabilities.

For this edition, producers will exclusively use BLEASS Monolit, an innovative monophonic synthesizer by BLEASS. Free and available across desktop and iOS platforms, Monolit offers exceptional sound design potential to craft powerful basses, soaring leads, lush pads, and rhythmic textures.

About BLEASS Monolit

BLEASS Monolit is a free, cutting-edge monophonic synthesizer designed for clarity, creativity, and sonic versatility. It blends analog-style warmth with modern digital control, perfect for dynamic sound sculpting. Key features include:
  • Single Oscillator with Morphable Waveforms: Seamlessly transition between waveforms for evolving sounds.
  • Advanced Resonant Low-pass Filter: Shape your tone with precision.
  • Flexible Modulation System: Includes intuitive envelope generators and LFOs to animate your patches.
  • Built-in Effects: High-quality delay and reverb to add depth directly within Monolit.

Download your free copy directly from BLEASS official site and discover additional free BLEASS effects plugins to enhance your DAW toolkit.

Getting started with Monolit is straightforward yet rewarding:

Oscillator Mastery: Use the waveform morphing slider to blend wave shapes dynamically, achieving unique tonal shifts.

Sound Sculpting with Filters
: Harness the resonant low-pass filter creatively to cut frequencies and emphasize desired harmonics.

Dynamic Modulation
: Assign envelopes and LFOs to multiple parameters like pitch, waveform morphing, or filter cutoff for expressive sound changes.

Built-in Effects Integration
: Leverage onboard delay and reverb for spatial and atmospheric depth without external plugins.

REMIEXS Tips for Crafting Outstanding Monolit Presets

Elevate your presets with these expert tips:
  • Morph & Animate: Exploit waveform morphing with automation to create movement in static sounds.
  • Expressive Filtering: Use subtle filter modulation linked to velocity or aftertouch for dynamic performance nuances.
  • Spatial Awareness: Utilize the internal delay and reverb creatively to position sounds distinctly in your mix.
  • Organized Workflow: Regularly save and organize your patches into coherent banks for quick recall during production sessions.
  • Experiment Boldly: Don’t hesitate to experiment with extreme modulation settings—Monolit often rewards adventurous explorations.

How to enter?

To participate successfully, follow these guidelines carefully:
  • Synthesizer Limitation: Only BLEASS Monolit can be used for sound generation.
  • Effects Usage: Allowed effects are limited to basic DAW stock effects (EQ, reverb, delay, compression, and limiter). Specialized effects like chorus, flanger, distortion, or external modulations are prohibited.
  • Samples & Audio: No external samples permitted; all sounds must originate from Monolit.
  • Submissions uploaded to SoundCloud only. File format is any supported by SoundCloud. Submissions must be downloadable.
  • Soundcloud file-name format: Artist - Track Title where artist name is the same as KVR nick. For collaborations, just put both names as artist name, for example Artist1 + Artist2 - Track Title. If the collaborator is not a KVR member, put the KVR member's name first, like this: KVR Name + Collaborator name - Track Title.
  • Soundcloud entry MUST have downloads enabled
  • Submissions must be announced in the submissions forum thread with a link to the song's soundcloud, and include a brief report how it was made:- The DAW/host, all FX used, and how many instances of the synth and FX was used.
  • Track licenses are whatever you set it to when they are on your own account at SoundCloud, but when in archive it's: Creative Commons license: Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0
